Origin of suicide
Here we are going to describe the chronological history and origin of suicide, and where from it start.The
word suicide has been derived from the Latin word "Sui Caedere"
which means "to kill oneself ". Suicide, however, is an act
"the intentionally taking ones' own life". It is too
difficult task to explore the real case of suicider to take such
action. Here are a large number of views against and in favor of
destroy ones' own life. Philosophy,Religion,Psychology and Science
have different views about this action.
In classical era,in pagan
period,both the Greek and Roman showed neutral attitude toward the
concept of harm oneself.
The great Greek philosophers
Socrates,Plato and Aristotle were against this practice. G.K.
Checterton views about suicide"the ultimate and absolute evil
the refusal to take interest in existence".G.L Kittredge
considers "the Stoies held that suicide is cowardly and wrong".
J.S Mills' views are different, in his essay "On Liberty"
he says that one should be free in ones' intentions.
In religions suicide is also
condemn. Islam,Christianity,Hinduism considers it a wrong act and
against the commands of God. In Hinduism it is a bad action but,
Sati, a tradition is present which also a kind of suicide. But now a
days it is degraded by the modern civilization of Hindu community.
In psychology and science suicide
is weakness of mind,depression,hallucination and schizophrenia.
when a person so much depressed
from the society,family,failure in practical life or lose a beloved
he commits suicide. Moreover, it is always said that committing
suicide is a wrong act done by the human beings. But in some
situations it becomes a legal act such as in war,when a spy is
captured and protest against tyranny. These examples we have seen in
the world war 2nd .Pilots also move their crafts down ward at the
time of risk.
